Great Lakes shipwrecks
After touring the area last summer I realized how the maritime history of Michigan is an area that is not really covered. From the map you can see that I have plotted some of the larger shipwrecks in Lake Huron, it amazed me the amount of wrecks in one area. My lesson plan would have the students research and plot other shipwrecks in the area or in Lake Michigan. Also another side project could be doing research on the ship that wrecked and how many people perished in the crash.

I love your lesson on shipwrecks. I visited White Fish Point this summer and enjoyed the history right here in Michigan. Some days I wish I taught history. I am going to brain storm your idea and incorporate it into science. It's important for students to learn Michigan history as well as world history and you made it interesting. Thanks for sharing your lesson.
That's a great idea! I visited the shipwrecks museum in Alpena this summer. It's very interesting and something that's talked about so little in Michigan history.
